Until June 30, 2013 the State Personnel Development Grant will provide financial assistance to families who do not have any other agency support to become active members of decision-making committees, task forces and other policy-making bodies. The Family Participation Fund provides assistance for family members to attend and participate in policy-making meetings. All forms must be received by June 30, 2013 to be funded.

This information is used to evaluate program efficiency and is in no way tied to funding eligibility. Family submissions of evaluations are very important to the California Department of Education.

- Have a child with disabilities or be a young adult student with disabilities under the age of 26 years of age attending a California school;
- Attend local, regional or statewide meetings to provide their ideas to decision makers about education policy.
Eligible meetings include, but are not limited to, the following:
- School Board meetings
- Parent Empowerment meetings
- Community Advisory Council (CAC)
- District Advisory Council (DAC)
- English Learner Advisory Council (ELAC)
- Compensatory Education Advisory Council (CEAC)
- Special Education Multicultural Advisory Committee (SEMAC)
- Interagency Coordinating Council (ICC)
- Regional Coordinating Councils
- State Special Education Advisory Committees
- Task Force Committee
- Etc...
Limitations:
- Ineligible meetings: Trainings, workshops, lobbying and conferences are NOT paid for under this program. Other ineligible meetings include classes (adult education, community college, college/university, etc.), either as an attendee or as a presenter; support group meetings; association or special-interest group meetings; event planning and fundraising meetings; meetings to advise other public agencies (regional center board meetings, county Mental Health or Public Health forums, etc.).
- One individual per household per activity may apply for stipend.
- An individual may receive up to $1,800.00 maximum per year.
- An individual receiving the FPF stipend may not also receive a stipend from the agency conducting the meeting.
- An individual may receive stipends for up to two (2) meetings per month.

- Traveling less than 75 miles = $100.00 per day; $50 per half day (less than 4 hours)
- Traveling 75 to 250 miles = $300.00 per day (Google/MapQuest verification of distance from attendee's home to meeting REQUIRED)
- Traveling over 250 miles = $450.00 per day (Google/MapQuest verification of distance from attendee's home to meeting REQUIRED)
